Wikidesk is built around a simple editorial principle: information should be presented clearly, responsibly, and in a way that allows readers to understand where important claims come from.

This policy describes the standards used to develop, review, update, and correct content published on Wikidesk.

1. Accuracy Comes First

Wikidesk aims to publish information that is factually accurate and reasonably supported by reliable sources.

Editors and contributors should take care when dealing with names, dates, roles, affiliations, achievements, statistics, quotations, and other factual claims.

When reliable information is unavailable or conflicting accounts exist, the wording should reflect that uncertainty rather than presenting an unverified claim as established fact.

2. Sources and Verification

Important factual information should, where appropriate, be supported by sources that readers can independently consult.

Useful sources may include:

  • Official websites
  • Government or institutional records
  • Reputable publications
  • Books and established reference works
  • Academic or research publications
  • Professional or organizational records
  • Other credible sources with a clear editorial or evidentiary basis

The quality of a source matters more than simply having a large number of citations.

3. Clear and Neutral Presentation

Wikidesk aims to present information in a clear and balanced manner.

Articles should distinguish between established facts, attributed statements, opinions, claims, and interpretations.

Content should avoid unnecessary promotional language, exaggerated descriptions, unsupported superlatives, or wording intended primarily to influence a reader's opinion.

Where a subject has competing perspectives, relevant viewpoints should be represented fairly and in proportion to the available evidence.

4. No Fabricated Information

Wikidesk does not intentionally publish invented quotations, fabricated achievements, fictional credentials, or knowingly false biographical or organizational information.

Contributors should not manufacture sources or citations to make an article appear more authoritative.

If information cannot reasonably be verified, it may be omitted, qualified, or marked for further review.

5. Subject-Specific Information

Biographical and organizational articles may contain information supplied by representatives, public records, published sources, or other contributors.

Information provided directly by a subject or representative may be considered during the editorial process, but publication does not automatically mean that every submitted statement has been independently verified.

Where appropriate, Wikidesk may seek supporting sources before incorporating significant factual claims.

6. Conflicts of Interest

People contributing information about themselves, their employers, clients, organizations, or other closely connected subjects should take particular care to provide accurate and properly sourced material.

A contributor's relationship with a subject should not be used as a reason to present unsupported claims as fact.

Wikidesk may request additional sources, revise wording, or decline material where a conflict of interest could reasonably affect the reliability or neutrality of the information.

7. Editorial Independence

The final wording and structure of an article should be determined according to Wikidesk's editorial standards rather than solely according to the preferences of an interested party.

Requests for factual corrections are welcome. Requests to remove accurate information simply because it is unfavorable, inconvenient, or unflattering may require additional review.

This distinction helps preserve the usefulness of Wikidesk as a reference resource.

8. Living People

Information about living people requires particular care.

Potentially harmful claims should not be presented as fact without appropriate and reliable supporting evidence.

Personal information that is unnecessary for understanding the subject should generally be avoided.

When credible information changes, Wikidesk may update the relevant article accordingly.

9. Corrections and Updates

Wikidesk recognizes that information can become outdated or that mistakes can occur.

Readers are encouraged to report:

  • Factual errors
  • Outdated information
  • Broken or misleading references
  • Incorrect names, dates, or affiliations
  • Missing context
  • Other material issues

Reported issues may be reviewed before a correction is made.

Corrections may involve changing a sentence, updating a section, replacing outdated information, adding a source, or removing information that cannot be adequately supported.

10. Editorial Review

Content may be reviewed before publication or after publication depending on the nature of the material and the circumstances in which it was submitted.

Review may consider:

  • Accuracy
  • Source quality
  • Clarity
  • Relevance
  • Neutrality
  • Potentially misleading wording
  • Privacy concerns
  • Compliance with applicable site policies

Not every page is reviewed in the same manner or at the same frequency.

11. Corrections Do Not Require Perfection

The purpose of this policy is not to suggest that every Wikidesk page is permanently complete or error-free.

Knowledge changes. Sources are updated. New information becomes available.

Wikidesk therefore treats editorial quality as an ongoing process rather than a one-time certification.

12. Editorial Transparency

Wikidesk may identify sources, references, editorial notes, or other relevant context when doing so helps readers understand how information was established or updated.

Where an article requires additional review, Wikidesk may also indicate that further verification is needed.

13. Policy Changes

This policy may be revised as Wikidesk develops its editorial processes and as new requirements or best practices emerge.

The latest version will be maintained on this page.
