He is best known as the co-founder of Dropbox, a cloud storage and file synchronization company. Ferdowsi co-founded Dropbox with Drew Houston in 2007 and was involved in the company's early product and engineering development.

Early life and education
Ferdowsi was born on 7 October 1985 in Overland Park, Kansas, United States. He developed an interest in computers and technology at an early age.

He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he studied electrical engineering and computer science. While at MIT, he began working on the idea that eventually became Dropbox.

Founding Dropbox
In 2007, Ferdowsi co-founded Dropbox with Drew Houston. Houston had developed an early version of a file-synchronization service after experiencing difficulties keeping files synchronized between computers.

Ferdowsi joined Houston while studying at MIT and became an early technical collaborator on the project. The two worked on developing a service that would allow users to store files online and synchronize them across multiple devices.

Dropbox was subsequently accepted into Y Combinator, a startup accelerator, in 2007. The company launched its service publicly in 2008.

Career at Dropbox
Ferdowsi served as Dropbox's chief technology officer during the company's early years. He was involved in engineering and product development as the company expanded its cloud-storage platform.

Dropbox developed software that allowed users to store files remotely and synchronize them across computers and other devices. The service later expanded to include collaboration and file-sharing features.

Ferdowsi remained involved with Dropbox as the company grew from an early-stage startup into a major cloud-storage and productivity software company.

Later career
Ferdowsi stepped away from his day-to-day responsibilities at Dropbox and became involved in technology investing and entrepreneurship.

He has invested in and supported technology startups through his work as an investor. His interests have included early-stage technology companies and products.

Ferdowsi has also participated in the technology and startup community, including activities related to entrepreneurship and venture investment.

Contribution to cloud computing
Ferdowsi's work at Dropbox contributed to the development of consumer-oriented cloud storage and file synchronization services.

Dropbox's approach allowed users to access and synchronize files across multiple devices without manually transferring files between computers. The service became part of the broader development of cloud-based productivity and collaboration tools.

See also
* Dropbox
* Drew Houston
* Y Combinator
* Cloud computing
* File hosting service
* Massachusetts Institute of Technology

References
Reflist

External links
* Dropbox
* Massachusetts Institute of Technology
* Y Combinator
